June 3rd Daily Meditation Moment

It is not enough to have blind faith in spiritual ideals, based on the testimony of the scriptures or spiritual teachers. We must realize these truths for ourselves, in our own life and consciousness. As the Buddha was fond of sayings, the spiritual teacher only points the way; we must do our own traveling. The personal example of others may plant the seed in our hearts, inspiring us to meditate, but faith can develop fully only when we begin to reap the benefits of meditation in our own lives. ~

May 10th Daily Meditation Moment

It is love that teaches us our real stature and reveals the heroism we never thought we possessed. The small renunciation that might be well-nigh impossible in a vacuum can be blessedly simple when someone we love stands to gain. ~

April 4th Daily Meditation Moment

An unhurried mind brings the capacity to make wise choices everyday – choices of how we use our time, of where we place our resources and our love. I am not just talking about avoiding the rat race, but about a life full of an artistic beauty – a life that has almost vanished from modern civilization, but is quite within the reach of everyone. ~

February 27th Daily Meditation Moment

We are all inclined to get overwhelmed at times and to ask, “What can I, one person, do to right problems like pollution and hunger?” Gandhi’s reply is simple but challenging: you just raise your own consciousness and you will raise the consciousness of the entire world. That is what he did. ~
